We travel to Furore where a series of steps will lead us to the locally famous “path of love” (via dell’amore), which is twinned with a path of the same name in the Cinque Terre. This route will lead us to the path of the Agavi and then along a beautiful and panoramic route reaching Praiano, with the beautiful church of San Luca, which id dedicated to St. Luke - the area's patron saint. Today we walk up from Amalfi to the charming little village of Pontone, gateway to the ridge of the ‘Torre dello Zirro’, from where we enjoy spectacular views over Amalfi and Atrani. We then walk slowly down into the ‘Valle dei Mulini’ – the valley of the watermills – with its ruins of Europe’s most ancient paper factories, dating back to the 11th century. The path takes us deep into the valley to the entrance of the nature reserve, with its lush vegetation and waterfalls. From here, it is about an hour’s walk back down to Amalfi, passing through the charming little back streets of the town centre. Upon arrival in Amalfi, we visit the Paper Mill Museum, housed in a disused but fully operational 14th century paper mill.

Today we will visit the sobering Pompeii excavations with a local guide. What makes Pompeii so fascinating and unique is the possibility to reconstruct – step-by-step and through the streets paved with basalt lava – the daily life of the inhabitants of a city that a catastrophic event such as the eruption of Vesuvius in AD79 managed to immortalise. After a light lunch in Pompeii we move on to Mount Vesuvius, the volcano that destroyed the bustling city of Pompeii, thus creating the world’s most fascinating ruins. We drive up Vesuvius as far as we can and then start a circular walk, which takes us along the impressive volcanic phenomena seen around the crater: lava flows, pumice fields and grottoes up to the highest point at 1,281 metres (4000 feet), from where we have the very best view over the Bay of Naples.

Today will be spent at leisure. What could be better on an active walking holiday than one day of free time, with which you can enjoy a little independent exploration? Wander around the charming towns, take an excursion to the surrounding islands or perhaps just relax and rest your legs at the hotel. However you choose to spend your day, we'll reconvene in the evening for dinner.

Leaving from our hotel, we take a short stroll through the quiet village of Bomerano before we join the Walk of the Gods. This route follows the contours of the land for the majority of the day with great views of the Amalfi Coastline far below. This walk leads us through fields of wildflowers, past ancient stone huts, and across precipitous terraced hillsides as well as narrow ledges that overlook the sea. The walk ends in Positano with its brightly painted houses covered in bougainvillea. Later on, we return to our hotel by boat or minivan for dinner.

Today’s walk takes us towards the highest peaks of the Amalfi Coast, with fabulous views accompanying the experience. Pass through vineyards and chestnut woods, climbing for an hour to reach the ridge of the Monte Tre Calli, from where there are 360 degree views. Along the ridge, walk on to a natural rock formation known as the ‘mushroom’ and then we pause for a picnic lunch. Continue the climb to the Monte Sant’Angelo. Descend towards the little chapel of the ‘Virgin of the Silence’, and finally take an easy path back to Bomerano.
