Christianna Bonin

Christianna is completing a PhD at Massachusetts Institute of Technology on transformations to handicraft production and artistic practice during periods of industrialization through the Soviet mid-century.

In 2018-19, she will be an Alfa Fellow at the Higher School of Economics and Tretyakov Gallery, Moscow. In 2016-17, she held a Fulbright Research Fellowship at Smolny College, Saint Petersburg State University. She has a master’s degree in Art History from Williams College and a bachelor’s degree summa cum laude in the History of Art and Architecture from Amherst College. Her interests also include Russian contemporary art and she is a contributing critic at Artforum. Prior to her doctoral studies, she worked as a curatorial assistant and architectural guide at the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation in Germany.
