My aim as tutor for these amazing holidays is to have as much fun as we can together, both with our singing and participating in all the fabulous activities and trips that have been scheduled. I like things to be relaxed, so we can be flexible about when we get together to sing, but it is good to have set-aside times in the day’s programme reserved just for our singing; those will generally be in the morning when we will warm up and learn some songs, and then a shorter period before dinner in the evening. There will also be times when we are out and about when we can sing in some really exciting venues; hopefully there will also be the chance to sing with a local choir, showing off what we have learned during our singing sessions.
There won’t be any other instruments other than our own voices … that’s all you need to bring. And you don’t have to read music as I will hope to teach you the notes as we go along (we may have crib-sheets for words though, if that helps). I love a varied repertoire of songs, so I hope there will be something to suit every taste, and we will hopefully be singing in 2-, 3-, 4-part harmony, and maybe even more. We are not necessarily aiming to put on a performance at the end of the holiday, though if we as a group feel we want to, we can do just that! Above all, we are mainly there for the sheer joy and fun of communal singing (leave pressure and stress behind!), such an inclusive and healthy activity, both physically and spiritually.
I look forward to meeting you all and sharing with you many memorable musical and happy holiday experiences!
