Experience a tour with a difference as we explore magical Salzburg and the sights made famous by the iconic movie, ‘The Sound of Music’. Sing in harmony at the film’s locations & lose yourself in truly stunning landscapes.
In the town where the lives of Von Trapp family come to life and dance across the Pegasus Fountain, we endeavour to create our own musical memories to treasure. Many sights will be familiar to us from the timeless film, Leopoldskron Palace, Nonnberg Abbey but none play in our mind more than Maria skipping down the Monchsberg hill, where we visit and bring the hills alive with the sound of our harmonies.
Between the nostalgia, we fill the tour with equally significant monuments of Salzburg’s culture and history and with a free day to explore at leisure we can uncover the romance of Salzburg to its fullest.
Today we fly from London Heathrow to Salzburg and upon arrival we transfer to our hotel and then spend the evening getting better acquainted over dinner.
A visit to Mirabell Palace & Gardens gets our day off to a beautiful start. This is a perfect singing spot, with views of Nonnberg Abbey. After lunch, we visit Pegasus Fountain and the steps that featured in ‘The Sound of Music’, where we will sing.
This morning we visit Winkler Terrace, set high upon the Monchsberg Hill. This is where the performance scene of “Do-Re-Mi” in the film began. We will also visit the modern art museum before lunch and a visit to the small festival hall where “Edelweiss” was performed – for this, we will be joined by the Salzburg Choir.
Another iconic place from the much loved film is ours to explore today, namely Nonnberg Abbey, which is still in use as a convent now. Following a stop for lunch, we tour the magnificent Leopold Palace and can even sing at the lakes!
We have secured private access to the Von Trapp villa today, where we will also spend time singing together in perfect harmony. Later, we cruise down the River Salzach back to Salzburg, where our coach will take us back to the hotel.
Our final full day on this tour will see us enjoying some free time. At dinner, where we will be treated to a dinner show courtesy of The Sound of Music Performers.
We transfer to the airport and make our return journey back home.
