Sandy Bell

Sandy Bell has been part of the Mr Bridge family since 2004. Her kind nature, endless patience and attention to detail are just some of the reasons she is loved by so many of our guests.

Sandy worked for the De Beers diamond group in personnel management for the last 16 years of her career.  Having been invited to apply to become a Magistrate, she was appointed to the Windsor Bench in 1985.  Sandy gave up work in 1991 in order to spend more time sailing in the Mediterranean with her husband and sailing their boat across the Atlantic to the Caribbean.

Sandy had played social bridge for 25 years and in 1995, after an amicable separation from her husband, she decided to set up a bridge club in the local yacht club in Port Solent, near Portsmouth, where she lived.  Single people were encouraged to join and it was surprising how many widows and widowers attended on the first night who were delighted to be welcomed as a single player.  Sandy is a member of EBUTA and has been teaching improvers’ bridge for several years which she thoroughly enjoys.  In May 2004, she was assessed suitable as a Club Director and has subsequently attended various EBU Courses to keep her up to date with any changes to the Rules and Regulations.  Sandy’s “career” with Mr Bridge began in 2004 having been a guest at several weekend occasions prior to this.

Sandy and her partner Graham met in 1996 and soon discovered their passion for bridge and sailing.  Graham is a retired naval officer and during his retirement has built to his own design several cruising catamarans of varying lengths, the last of which is 38 ft called Kittiwakes III which they continue to sail together.
