Isabel Stokholm

Isabel is completing her PhD at the University of Cambridge on intergenerational relationships between realist and modernist painters in late imperial Russia.

Having studied Russian at the State Pushkin Institute in Moscow, she went on to receive her BA in History from the University of Oxford and her MA in History of Art from the Courtauld Institute of Art in London. Since 2016 she has been based in Moscow, where she was a Visiting Scholar at Moscow State University in 2016-17, during which her archival research in Moscow, St Petersburg, Kiev and Siberia was funded by the Leverhulme Trust. Prior to her move to Russia, Isabel was a Guide Lecturer at the Wallace Collection in London. She is also interested in early Russian photography and in 2012 received a grant to travel through Siberia, taking photographs in honour of the pioneering nineteenth-century photographer, Sergei Prokudin-Gorsky.
