Dr Agata Chrzanowska

Dr Agata Chrzanowska is an art historian specialized in both Early Modern painting and in photography studies.

She obtained her PhD from Durham University with a thesis on the relationship between narrative fresco cycles and religious spectacles in fifteenth-century Florence. Agata is particularly interested in the study of the images in dialogue with religion, devotion and power. She has studied Domenico Ghirlandaio and Filippo Lippi’s artistic production as well as the history of Polish photography and twentieth-century art. During her professional career she has collaborated with the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz – Max-Planck-Institut, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice and the Zachęta – National Gallery of Art in Warsaw. Currently Agata collaborates with the British Institute in Florence and carries on her own research projects. Agata’s publications include:
